You simply cannot visit Chennai and not visit the Kapaleeswarar Temple. Irrrespective of your religion, you definitely should visit this holy place just to glimpse the wonderful architectural features, namely the gopuram. Before you go one important note: please respect the temple rules and dont take any photographs / videos within the premises.
As you walk around inside the temple premises, you feel at peace with yourself and the world, all your worries and tension dropping away. Dont miss the sacred tree beneath which is the shrine to Goddess Parvati.
If you visit during March/April, find out beforehand the schedule of the special Car Festival organised at the Temple.
