iPod Classic 160 GB Silver Review Apple invented a gadget known as the iPod. Once it was officially launched, it started a new era for the Portable Music Player(PMP) players. Now the iPod has become a dictionary word. Talk of MP3 players and iPod comes to ones mind. Even small kindergarten kids know what an iPod is. Well, lets stop talking about this and let us talk about the iPod Classic.
iPod Classic was the first iPod to be launched by Apple. That time not many MP3 players existed and this new technology was just coming up. But the iPod over the years has changed itself and its name is now synonymous with quality. The iPod has revolutionized the way we listen to our music.
The iPod Classic has been revamped a lot over the past years. The most nifty and the most addictive tool is the Clickwheel scroller. Just move your fingers over it and surf the whole music collection. It is so much much of an addiction that I once found myself playing with the clickwheel for over an hour. It has recently in its product update introduced a sensor known as the accelerometer which existed in the iPod Touch. What it does is that it senses the movement of the iPod towards a direction and adjusts the screen according to it. Whats more, you turn it right or left and the Cover Flow mode comes on wherein you can scroll through album artworks. Enough for features, lets move on to performance.
Listening to music on an iPod is like total nirvana. Its like being in heaven or bliss for that matter. Everything is simply perfect. The bass of rock and jazz, strings of pop, music of classical nothing is less than perfect. It has been engineered to perfection. Although the bundled earphones are simply a waste and can be disposed off literally. Hearing the iPod with a Sennheiser headphone is 100% perfect. The modes are very easy to scroll and the new firmware is even more peppy and faster. And 160 GB is simply more than enough to store all your songs and videos. Pity you cant take your iPod for the jog as it has a hard drive which might get damaged due to shocks and vibrations. Rest is fine. Watching a video is strictly OK due to the small screen although the clarity is quite good. Now lets move on to the looks.
During the recent upgrade, iPod Nano and the Touch received a complete new makeover but the poor ol Classic was left behind(I wonder now if thats how the name Classic came). It still sports the same design complete with a Stainless steel finish and it is quite good. The screen still smudge friendly. But other than that, the design is pretty much the same and the usual.
But it must be said that iPod has changed the way people look at current generation MP3 Players. So, the next time you into a market and feel regretted that you need that iPod somehow, go grab it now. Apple has reduced the price quite a lot and thus it makes it even more attractive.
I must say, iPod rules! Long live the iPod king in the Apple kingdom!
