At my workplace, the previous Epson Stylus printer was replaced by the Canon-Pixma MP160 model. It is a cool grey colour and extremely lightweight, which is an advantage as it can be carried around and set up anywhere.
The buttons are easy to access on the front even when set up on an elevated position on a computer trolley. However, being light, when at work, the entire trolley shakes and rumbles!! When switched on, like most printers, it makes quite a bit of noise so you need to tone down its volume.
The scanning feature is the best aspect of this printer, as it requires just one click to scan a document or a photo. The documents that are printed with this machine come out with far more clarity and crispness than with the earlier printer. However, the same cannot be said about photo images - a photograph comes out looking like it has gone through a washing machine! The images look faded out quite a bit. The photo-copy feature of the machine also works just great, with separate buttons for black-and-white and colour buttons making it quick and easy to take a photo-copy without any need to connect it to the computer.
BUT - and this is a major headache: the cartridges are the worst feature of this machine. They have very little capacity and we find it necessary to change them within 15 days, as compared to the previous printers cartridges that we did not need to change for nearly 2 months. It is really absurd, considering the cartridges cost over a thousand a pop! So, to save on costs, a staff member removes photo copies from the local photo-copy store when multiple copies are requried. This totally defeats the purpose of having the machine!!! In fact, just because of this one feature I would not recommend it to anybody.
