Skoda Fabia Elegance 1.4 PD TDI Review
Behind the screen thought! We all love to redefine and make changes in our dressing styles every now and then. It seems that nowadays car manufactures also does the same to simply make the customers aware that they are still alive. It also provides them a opportunity to make up the concerns they had in their previous versions. Same happened with even with the high selling low end cars like maruthi Suzuki's 800, Alto, Wagon R. But today our talk is about Skoda fabia. When mighty Hyundai i10 came out with glittering new clothes how Skoda could just cross their legs and sit calmly? They decided to fix certain ‘bugs' and redefine Skoda fabia. Let's read the story of simple old fabia to new Skoda fabia elegance 1.2 TDI.
Review and verdict Price 6.69lakh Efficiency 16.3kpl
The previous version fabia was somewhat like a moderate success. Earlier, 1.4 MPI, 1.4 TDI couldn't maximize the affection that car users appreciate. So with the new car they were trying to make compensation. In new ‘elegance' we can observe some minor changes in the car exterior. Some hammering has been done in its fog lamps, grille, and made head light a bit bulkier (but I loved those eyes!).Similar touches and ‘spread lightness' adds to the fabia's fresh appeal. Internally without compromising the earlier advantages welcoming changes have been incorporated – The twin glove box, simple mirror controls, re fixed aux port, storage spaces all looks fine.
Coming to the strengths and stamina's of the car the present engine offerings are 1.2l MPI diesel and 2.6l old petrol motor. As plenty of reviews on petrol motor are available on web, let us continue our discussion with the diesel one. In the paper, engine has an eye catching 75BHP power from their three cylinders along with the 180nm of torque. But it often happens that when it comes out of the paper those bold two figures play ‘hide'n'seek' – we will come to that. ‘Power throw' using the five speed spacious gear box is above okay. In lowers speeds the engine looks ‘electric' – almost no sound at all, you will have to keep your hands always on the horn. So, no doubt under the economy of diesel, fabulous fabia perfectly suites the busy traffic needs. But our client's engine is no short of stubbornness – at higher speeds engine looks irritated and it cries all the way. Suspension of Skoda fabia elegance 1.2 TDI is definitely on the firmer side. Even then it is tolerable due to its assistance in giving fabia a better stability and a feel of solidity.
As said earlier 75 BHP and 180 NM of torque claimed by Skoda for their upgraded hatchback have not lived to the mark. Fuel efficiency is ok – it gives you an appreciable mileage of above 16kpl (Is it enough for you to be ‘blind' the engine weakness?). So fabia is fabulous for city rides. In my opinion it should be renamed as ‘Skoda fabia traffic 1.2 TDI'. It lacks a stylish look from the front, but at the same time interior trifles are pretty cool. In short, for an admissible price fabia is a very competitive car in the market. Keeping the engine power apart, he is a somewhat perfect fellow.
