ME Gaming Z 15 Review
ME Gaming - Z 15 Review
We have been seeing many multi media devices in the recent times with Gaming as an important feature in them. Now this offering from HCL, ME Gaming Z 15 , looks just the opposite, as it ia a gaming device with multimedia offerings, not that it has all the multimedia offerings, but enough of them are there.
The Gaming Device Z 15 comes with a glossy black colour with only the logo ME etched in silver on the top of the device. There are two mini USB slots at the back along with a 5 mp camera between them. the left slot hosts the on and off key with a mini SD slot and the right has TV in and TV out / headphone slots. The media keys are placed at the bottom. You have to flip the top to open the console to see the 2.8" TFT display screen with the HCL logo at the top, with the entire control panel or the gaming pad at the bottom. On the left there are 4 keys arrow marked, and the controller buttons are on the right. There is a speaker grill on the top middle part and the power, play, and the pause buttons at the botom. There is an LED indicator at the fold for power and battery life. All this come in a velvet pouch along with a TV out cable, headphone, charger and a USB cable.
There is an inbuilt battery which should be charged with the provided charger and while doing this the indicator will remain red. If you have to switch the device on, you have to turn the on of slider and then press the Power button long enough, which might become confusing in the initial trials As soon as the battery is fully charged the Power/ Battery indicator will turn blue and will again turn red whenthe battery is low on power.
The recorder of the ME gaming Z15, records easily and gets stored in the music folder as an unknown folder. The quality is very clear and the loud speaker might be just enough for a single person listening in. Any way the headphones are quite nice and clear. The radio only works with the headphones on and the sound is quite clear. The 5 MP camera clicks at a maximum resolution of 1600x1200 and goes down to 1280x960 and lowest to 640x480, all at fixed focus without the Zoom. You can get decent images but there is no flash and it is being felt.
There are 20 inbuilt games which are interesting from the basic tetris and pacman to games based on tank wars, racing and space adventures, the device has elements of all kinds of gaming, you can create structures by moving blocks in the Smart Blocks and some gambling games as well. Another feature in this is that when ME gaming Z 15 is connected to the television you can record whatever is being played in the television in this device. The inbuilt li-ion battery, of the ME gaming Z 15, is not that impressive and worked till full discharge, only for day and a half.
With this model of Gaming Console ME Gaming Z 15 HCL has started creating a gaming console which also doubles up as a multi media device for a lesser price.
