Archos 704 wifi Review This media player is neither a handheld computer nor a portable media player. The 7 inch touch screen offers a lots of entertainment especially for those who wish to have fun wherever they are.
The case is made of brushed aluminium and the entire player is touch screen controlled. The left edge contains Power and TV/LCD output buttons and the right have a switch to remove the battery apart from that the player is devoid of any other hardware. The player is inbuilt with powerful speakers on the front. One neednot hold the player in hand, but can rest it on the kickstand which is provided at the back. The player comes with a wireless IR remote and a carrying case, an extra stylus, incase if the user looses the one given with the player and an AC Charger.
The player is inbuilt with 80GB hard drive which allows the user to store close to 100 hours of DVDs. The battery gives 16hours of non stop music play back, 5 hours of video play back and 5 hours of web browsing. By paying extra amount for the DVR docking station and the travel kit the user is allowed to watch live TV programs and listen to radio. The TV programs could be recorded for later viewing. As the videos are stored in MPEG format the quality of the videos are very good. The player could be connected to the TV and the time could be set using the IR remote which records the programs even without the user nearby.
The player connects with any OS with great ease and the songs or videos could be easily dragged and dropped. Photos could be transferred directly from the camera or from any USB device. Though this player connects to the computer via USB port, it cannot be charged from the computer.
The touch screen is highly respnsive and as the player supports all formats of video and audio one could purchase or download or copy any format of audio and video files into it. The resolution of the screen gives a very sharp picture and when slide shows are viewed the slides moves very smoothly. The photos stored could be rotated or zoomed or even panned. The playercould be connected to a TV via the headphone jack with a separate cable.
The player includes lots of sound customization options and the sound quality is quite good. The earbuds are gret for casual hearing. Though one could browse the web using the player, when opening certain websites, it becomes a bit slow. The screen pops out with a virtual keyboard and one could type text data with ease.
PDF files can be viewed using the PDF viewer, but the user need to be bit patient as it is quite slow.
The player is a very good option for frequent travellers and for those who wish to have loads of entertainment even when on move.
