Aurangabad Review Aurangabad is one of the most important cities in Maharashtra. This city has witnessed historical events and had stood firm throughout thick and thin. Aurangabad is again a popular tourist destination in Maharashtra.
Aurangabad is surrounded by hills from all the sides. The best time to visit this place happens to be winters, as the climate is pleasant and cool. The summers here are hot and scorching. This city receives rainfall on an average scale.
Aurangabad is a city which produces silk and cotton in a very large scale. This city is famous for its fabric, especially the Paithani Silk Saris.
Aurangabad also has various accommodation facilities like The Ajanta Ambassador, The Rama International, The President Park and many more. This place is easily accessible by rail, road and air. The Aurangabad Airport connects to all the major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Jaipur.
The rail connectivity of Aurangabad station with all the major cities is also smooth and regular. Aurangabad is well connected to all the major roads and highways throughout all the cities and states. In fact the good news is the recent beginning of Nagpur – Aurangabad – Mumbai express highway.
There are many tourist attractions in the city which make the sightseeing quite an experience. The few famous points include Bibi ka Maqbara, Panchakki, Ajanta, Ellora, Gates of Aurangabad, Mhaismal, Shahganj Masjid and Killa Arrak. The Daulatabad fort is amazing. Visiting Bibi ka Maqbara makes you feel like visiting Taj Mahal, (but absolutely for those who haven't been to Taj Mahal). It isn't that huge and majestic like one of the seven wonders, but then you definitely get the same feel to it. Bibi ka Maqbara is constructed by maintaining Taj Mahal as an inspiration.
There is a lot of shopping spree offered here in Aurangabad. But then it also calls for some good bargaining sense to get the reasonable offers, as most of the shopping items are over – rated considering foreign tourists in mind.
Though there aren't much of activities that could be carried out other than sight seeing, there are few trekking options available in few areas, like for instance Paithan.
The best part about being in Aurangabad is visiting Ajanta and Ellora. Though Ajanta is closer to Aurangabad then Ellora, I would bet that Ellora is much much better than Ajanta. So even if you find it far enough to visit, do take a chance as you won't regret your decision. Ellora has three sections, the Jain Caves, the Buddhist caves, the Hindu Caves. The paintings that are found here are just amazing. Its nothing but a real wonder and the feel are charismatic. Ellora are at its best when visited in Monsoons as, there are few waterfalls that one gets to see at few caves and it's a breathtaking experience.
It's better to visit Ellora as a single day trip, so one gets to spend a lot of time here in Ellora. Don't mix up a trip to Ellora with any other sight seeing options.
