Samsung D880 Dual Sim Review The Samsung D880 Dual Sim is also known as Samsung D880 Duos. In fact, that is the actual name of the product, the market name. Here I am with a review of the product.
Appearance of Samsung D880 Dual SIM
The appearance of the phone is good, though following the trend of Samsung slider phones. To me, most of the slider phones which Samsung has produced look too much same. However, this one looks a bit different though not too much different. The phone is not available in many colors basically the all black color combination is what people are getting, though there is an option for Silver color too but it is not well marketed by Samsung to the customers. The cool looks of the keypad remind me the keypad of the Nokia N95 8GB set. The front panel of Samsung D880 Dual SIM is also good.
Display of Samsung D880 Dual SIM
There is nothing so hotshot in the display of the phone. However, it isn't so bad either. The display of the phone is 2.3 inches with a 240 x 320. This size – resolution ratio reminds me of the trendy combination which Sony Ericsson had given to its phone over a long time. However, the screen does not make too much difference. It is a 256K colors TFT screen and the display is quite informative, detailed and clarity blessed. However, I would have appreciated Samsung even more if it could have made it a 3 inch screen and a better screen resolution, something like 480 x 640 or something, like in the Samsung star, which is less costly than the Duos.
Entertainment of Samsung D880 Dual SIM
When it comes to the multimedia features, I have got only one word to express my feelings with the entertainment aspect of the phone. The word is ‘average'. The phone has not got any special entertainment features which can make it stand out of the row. However, the features are all that Samsung could fit in the phone compromising with the Dual sim advancement. The phone has got a MP3 playback capability and a 3.15 Megapixel camera with 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution capable of taking both still shots as well as video recording. The phone has not got features like Sony Ericsson and Nokia used to give in their phone regarding the entertainment features. So when it comes to entertainment, I can find just two things.
Storage of Samsung D880 Dual SIM
The phone has a 60 MB internal memory and supports an expansion of memory upto 2 GB which is not too much in these days because phones in the range of Rs. 3000 – 5000 are also coming with a 1 GB card packed in the box. At least Samsung could have managed to gift this phone's customers a complimentary memory. However that would have been possible because of the other features.
Connectivity Features of Samsung D880 Dual SIM
When it comes to connectivity features, the phone has good features which work in the today's Indian towns and cities. Today, in India you won't get too many people who actually rely on the Wi-Fi networks but they use GPRS packets to enjoy surfing, so absence of Wi-Fi does not matter too much. The phone has got Bluetooth, GPRS with EDGE and of course, with no doubts, USB connectivity. Of course GPS would be a luxury feature and how many people are able to use it today? So it has got okay okay type features in the name of connectivity features. The first SIM is a triband however, the second SIM is a dual band only and both are GSM. This is what it has got.
Battery of Samsung D880 Dual SIM
When it comes to battery, I would use the word magnificent. The phone is blessed with a magnificent 1200 mAh battery by Samsung. Taking the types of features present in the phone the battery is outstanding and capable to render hi-fi backup. As an average, it gives 350 hours standby time and up to 4 hours of regular uninterrupted talk time.
Other Features of Samsung D880 Dual SIM
The phone has not got special features any of that kind but I would like to appreciate Samsung for one thing which I find a good feature in the phone. It has given the D880 document viewer software which will be capable of letting the users use the Word Documents, Excel Spreadsheet, PDFs (of course) and stylish PowerPoint slides too. I think this is really good. Plus the phone has got MIDP which is a good feature for users to enjoy better gaming. Moreover, the phone has got TV – Out option too.
Overall Verdict for Samsung D880 Dual SIM
I won't say much, but all I would say in this section is that the phone is worth buying because today in the Dual SIM industry of phones, you won't find many phones which offer you such features and can stand in a 10K above price category. So it's worth buying.
