Honda Civic Hybrid Review Depletion of the ozone layer as a result of global warming has resulted in companies scrambling to bring out environment-friendly products. This is no less true of car manufacturers. Fuel-guzzling vehicles are a major cause of global warming, and car companies have been gearing up to provide fourwheelers that will keep Mother Nature smiling. One such company is Honda, which upgraded its Civic model and launched the Honda Civic Hybrid.
The Honda Civic Hybrid at first sight looks like the usual 2-door spacious sedan, with power windows and a central door locking system. However, it has a great stylish exterior that sets it apart from other sedans. It comes in 2 colours: Alabaster Silver & Premium Pearl White.
Inside, the dashboard is also stylish. The instrument panel is a visual delight, with all the guage-readers properly spaced out. The stereo system is not too bad, but most people prefer extra loud audio of the deafening kind for them, they would need to install better speakers!
The Honda Civic Hybrid operates on both an engine & an electric motor. Its main environment-friendly feature is the ‘idle-stop' feature. Lets suppose you stop at the roadside to answer your mobile. Instead of letting the engine idle away and thereby result in polluting the environment with the cars emissions, the engine turns off automatically. This automatically stops the emissions. Whats more, it saves fuel!
The best feature of the Honda Civic Hybrid is the provision of air bags. Generally, a car will have airbags only on the frontal side for the driver or for the driver & front-seated passenger. In the Honda Civic Hybrid, there are side air bags too for the driver & front passenger.
When launched in India, the Honda Civic Hybrid had a very high price tag of over Rs.21lakh. Although the vehicle did get buyers, the price kept away many customers who would otherwise rush to buy a fuel-saving vehicle. Hence, in November last year, Honda drastically brought down the price to Rs.13.36lakhs, but this was for a limited period.
It is not sure what the exact price now, but lets hope the company keeps a reduced price. Mother Nature needs some more smiles!
