We all know the role of maruti in Indian roads. Even if you have a glance on your near by road with no purpose you wont fail to see atleast a dozen of maruti vehicles on the road. That is the strength of maruti – they know exactly what Indian roads and Indian minds require. Swift and Alto are among the largest selling low end cars in India. When alto came to the market we all saw it as a modified 800. In fact it lived above our expectations to peak as the best selling car in India. I believe that above half the population of India would have travelled at least once in alto. It is quite evident from them that new alto K10 will lead a peaceful life here with his old generation brother. There is story of a great warrior who went to climb the big Himalayas in his maruti alto with his air conditioner ‘on' – just joking! We all know what the biggest problem with maruti's 800 and alto is. Just like their non-muscular appearances both make us feel that they don't have enough power when fully occupied or while having a height (even though the power what we talk here is a luxury to an extent…). But maruti cars like wagon r, swift have much more improved engine with good amount of life in it. About Alto k10 one can say that it is a powerful engine incorporated in a modified old alto body (I liked the eyes of new alto!). All the lights of lights and lamps of alto have given a new look – Old cute head lamp is converted with new naughty head lamp, new tail lights. (Changes are there only in looks functions will remain the same..!). Body is made slightly longer in new Alto K10 it is 125 mm longer (it add upto the little extra space inside the car.) than its old counter part. There is also noticeable improvement in the interiors of the car. Seats, stearing wheel every thing has given a new touch and taste – you may call them as ‘trifle changes'. Coming to the air conditioner story – even air conditioner works perfect as the engine when cooling is on. 68 PS at 6200 rpm, 90 NM at 3500 rpm rated engine knows his job better than anyone else. Smoothness in driving also gives an apparent feeling that engine is high on its ability. Altogether driving is in near perfection in new alto. Acceleration and suspension is also superior in the new alto. In short when we look in to the price of around 3.10 lakhs Alto k10 is a stiff and tough competitor for zantro, spark, punto and may be i10. Even though all the important upgrades announced where not practically satisfied – maruti have given 90 per cent justification to all new alto k10. No doubt this is a good and probably the best option in the present market for its price.
