Know thrissur Thrissur is most popular as the cultural capital of Kerala. These cultural blends of thrissur are evident in almost every walks of life in the district. Even thrissur has got its own special Malayalam apart from the normal language spoken in the other parts of the state. Situated at the right centre of kerala state, It is also the centre of attractions for many tourists visiting Kerala. Thrissur pooram festival held every year at thrissur is globally renown and attracts a large number of tourists and foreigners to the state. It usually happens in the months of April and may. Athirapally and Vazhachal Waterfalls of thrissur is yet another paradise for nature lovers in kerala.
Athirapally and Vazhachal Waterfalls Athirapally just a few kilometers away from the chalakkudy of thrissur in kerala in one of the most popular tourist's destinations in kerala. I reached thrissur by train, from Chalakudy Railway station I had to 33 kms via taxi to reach the spot (bus services are also available). As this spectacular site is located just 5 kilomaters apart the sholayar forests ranges we get a real forest feeling when we head towards the fall area. I could hear the rhythmic splashing tone of the falls even from a distance It is exciting to hear the intensified tone as we get closer and closer to the falls. Amidst the dense forest it is a real feast to your eyes to see the water ‘bundles' of varying thickness falling down. I felt some movie special effects have applied to certain areas where the streams where bit slower than the other but still with elegance..falls ultimately joins the chalakudy river in style. Athirapally falls from a height of approximately 80 meters is definitely a must go site.
First the path to the falls will be leading you to the right top of the falls. If you have a adventourous mind set and an equally complementing body then you can go the bottom of the falls to have the most memorable bath of your life time. But it is always risky due to the slippery rocks especially in rainy season. So I took the vist during the end of September, when the monsoon comes to an end in kerala. Vazhachall falls is just 5 kilometers away from the enchanting Athirapally falls. It is also a good spot with a prosperous stream after the rainy season. Among them loved athirapally the most.
Other Attractions Other falls close to athirapally and vazhachal is chapra falls just 1.5 kilometres away. You can also visit the water theme parks like Dream world and silver storm not too far from the city. Also don't miss the opportunity to make your presence at the arattupuha temple right at the heart of the city. .
