| | This software has been around for quite some time and is industry standard. You may like to run it just to know how your computer fares against others with similar configuration. This feature which for instance allows you to test as well as compare how a component of your computer would fare against other similar components is the highlight of this software.
The Good: 1) Easy to use, clean interface. 2) Some of the tips given (for instance it showed me that my motherboard was capable of supproting an even faster processor) are pretty useful. 3) The graphical display of results is easy to understand and infer. 4) The many comparison options (for instance I could compare my processors performance to that of a Core 2 Quad).
The bad: 1) Try stopping a test in the middle when its running. The test window will refuse to close though your computer would function normally. (This happened to me during network and hard drive testing I waited for 5 minutes to no avail finally I resorted to Ctrl+Alt+Del -> End Process). As I see it, stopping a hardware test is not recommended. I had no problems in software testing - the .NET CLR test when stopped while running took 3 minutes to complete.
Important Notes: Benchmarking (Testing) may cause certain components to fail because they are stress tested. Keep this in mind before running any tests with this program. Nothing like that has happened on my computer though, I have been running many tests regularly for two days. Also Note that during testing your computer may take a lot of time to respond to simple requests, so do not multitask when this program is testing something.
