Review: K-Lite Codec Pack 4.2.5: Must have for everybody

Okay, another codec pack like many others but this one has a slightly greater number of codecs, the only parts where I found thic pack lacking is the exclusion of support for Quicktime and realmedia files (earlier versions, say 1.4.3 supported these formats). Otherwise this codec pack had it all and you wouldnt really need to install anything else.

The good:
* Bundled software, namely Media player classic, Gspot codec information tool, bitrate calculator etc.
* Most options for the casual user can be set up during installation.
* Almost every video and audio file supported.
* Great codec configurabiltiy for advanced users.

The bad:
1) No bundled support for Quicktime and realmedia files (read Quicktime alternative and real alternative (seperate reviews for both will be posted shortly)).

Overall if you have different types of media formats on your computer you should install this software.

if one wishes to play .mp4, .avi (divx), .3gp format of video files
i recommend installing k-lite full , u also get a media player classic which is light weight compared to new windows media players

i have seen this not work succesfully with vista where it tends to hang the pc
there are other options for vista which work like a charm

k-lite is must have if u play divx and other compressed files containing video

Bad: windows media players tend to become slow, experience trouble with blue ray contents

This Codec as said full but it is not. Some of the files like flv requires only flv player.K-lite is good to play many of the formats like MP4,RM,MOV etc. It installs Media Player Classic to play these different format. This Codec fails to play the broken video files. It gives unnecessary players which most of the time we don't require.If you install K-lite then select the formats you require and then proceed.
