| | This place is definitely different. We had been there 3 or 4 times and everytime, we have had a different kind of experience. You will feel like walking into a place, where the goddess of food, Annalakshmi, herself serves you food. The temple like decor gives you that feeling. The mild music played at the background is nothing but slokas and devotional songs and music. All along the walls one can find idols and lots of Tanjore paintings. The goddess Annalakshmis statue is placed on the opposite end of the entrace the idol decorated with flowers and it looks like a temple.
The waiters, helpers and servers are not paid ones, but instead disciples of Swami Shanthananda Saraswathi. They volunteer to cook and to serve.
This is a pure vegetarian restaurant they serve different kinds of juices, soups, north or south Indian Thalis and you can choose from their ala-carte menu also. The Kadambari Thali is south Indian and the Rajyalakshmi Thali is a mixture of south and north Indian dishes. There is another type of Thali is also served named as Preethi Bhojan. The Kadambari and Preethi Bhojan are served in silver plates silver cutlery and the Rajyalakshmi in gold plated cutlery and plates. A part of the payment for the thalis or other food we eat goes for Charity.
One needs prior reservation. Their motto is Athithi Devo Bhava and it is followed to the core in this restaurant.
You can get special dishes which you dont normally get in other places.
