Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi Review Rab De Bana Di Jodi is a sensitive love story starring superstar Shahrukh Khan and debutant Anushka Sharma. It also has Vinay Pathak as a comedian. Shahrukh Khan plays the sole of a seedha saadha guy, who falls in love with a bubbly happy go lucky girl played by Anushka Sharma. Circumstances force Taani (Anushka Sharma) to marry Shahrukh, let's call him the common man. There is one small hitch….oops a very big one- Taani does not love the common man. Forget loving the ‘common man', she ceases to love life in general. The bubbly girl is transformed into a listless ‘responsible' housewife. But the ‘common man has an uncommon attitude- he looks is a monotonous guy, but is an extraordinary lover. He cannot bear the fact that his lover is sad. Fate presents him with an extraordinary opportunity to change her life. The common man grabs it. Will he be able to change her life? Morever, can the common man get the love he deserves?
The movie is about Shahrukh all the way. It has been presented from his viewpoint i.e from the point of view of an average guy, rather than from the point of view of the female (like Rani Mukharjee in Paheli). He acts really well in both his roles- the movie has him in a sort of double role. But, Shahrukh in his role as the common man seems to edge out Shahrukh as the overconfident flirt. It is Anushka Sharma's debut but she definitely edges out other newer heroines such as Deepika Padukone in the acting department. Maybe others are much more popular, but she has acted quite well considering the fact that it is her debut. Vinay Pathak is also good. One of his scenes where is stands out is when he cries hearing his friend's story and becomes his usual macho self the next moment, shouting at the top of his voice. Like Om Shanti Om, the director brought in Kajol, Lara Dutta, Priety Zinta, Bipasha Basu and Rani Mukharjee in one song. However, I found the song to be too long and boring. It was devoid of any excitement. The other songs are in sync with the story. They may not be very good to listen on an Audio CD but they flow with the story. Haule Haule sung by Sukhwinder Singh stands out. To conclude, the movie may not be as entertaining as some of other Shahrukh movies but is definitely is very good watch- simply for the range of emotions that Shahrukh portrays. However, it is definitely more entertaining than say 80% of the movies released these days. Definitely recommended.
