How Microwave Ovens work
This article explains how Microwave Ovens work
Three different types available in the Indian market.
1. Solo
2. Grill
3. Convection.
Microwave cooking have become an essential part of almost every Indian household as it helps the woman not to stand in the kitchen, set the time for cooking, and you could do any activity. It automatically stops when the preset time is over.
We in India generally consider home appliances as one time investment, so when you are purchasing a microwave one should make sure, the purpose for which the oven will be used.
If the microwave is to be used for simple cooking and reheating, then it is better to go for solo ovens, which comes at a very reasonable cost. In India the general range of ovens that is available is Counter Top models. One should be very careful when they have kids who like to experiment. The oven should be placed out of reach of kids or the kids should be taught microwave safety.
Never use vessels made of steel, or unsafe plastic or ceramic cups and bowls with glossy metallic finish rims. This will lead to wreckage.
Ovens with grill options allows the user to grill both veg and non veg food items with ease. The convection model allows the user to bake cakes too. The convection microwaves have fan that rotates the air all around the food to cook easily. This allows baking.
While cooking in a microwave, one should stop and stir in between, especially if it is some liquid or Dhall being cooked. Also never remove any item immediatly after the oven stops. Give it a standing time. How to clean your microwave easily:
Mix 2 tbsp of lemon juice or vinegar into 1 cup of water in a microwave safe cup which can contain 2 cups of water. When the microwave is run for 2 to 3 mins, depending upon the wattage; when the liquid stops boiling, stop the oven and keep the liquid in the oven for another 5 to 10 mins. After opening, it is very easy to wipe clean the oven with a soft cloth.
Hi Anusma,
Till now, I was in the feeling that microwave oven is only for reheating. But after seeing your detailed description regarding the use of the oven, I feel it is really essential. My wife was interested in purchasing a oven, but I used to say no to it. Now, I feel what she said is correct. Thank you for your posting. Normally we think that we know about the products, but it is not correct. If we read the uses, then only we can understand for what purpose and how to use a product.
