Omkareshwara Temple has Lord Shiva as the presiding deity. The temple is located in the Madikeri town of the coorg / Kodagu District of the state of Karnataka in India. Even though it is an Hindu temple it has got Islamic and Gothic style of Architecture. There are 4 minarets and a dome in the center along with a tank with lots of fishes.
History of the Omkareshwara Temple The Temple was built by Lingarajendra II in the 19th century. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The King Lingarajendra killed a pious and an honest Brahmin to fulfill some of his ambitions unjustly. Later the Brahmin's spirit used to haunt the King. Just to appease the spirit of the Brahman, he built this Omkareshwara Temple and installed a Shivalinga which he brought from Kashi.
