 Alappuzha Beach is just a strip of land, located sandwiched between the Arabian Sea and the Punnamada Backwaters in the Alappuzha district of the state of Kerala. Tourists who want to go to Alappuzha, have to fly to Kochi Nedumbassery International airport and then travel for about 90 kilometers south, all the way down to Alappuzha.
If you drive down the National Highway no 47 you can reach alappuzha which is on the way towards Thiruvananthapuram.
NH 47 links Salem to Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu but runs through Kerala for the most part.
You can also get KSRTC Kerala State Road transport corporation as well as private buses running through NH47 to Alappuzha from Kochi Airport.
If you are travelling by rail the Alappuzha railway station is 4 kilometer south of the center of town and about 3 kilometer from the boat jetty. You can get trains to Ernakulam (1 to 1½ hr, 57km, 7 daily), Thrissur, Kollam (2 hr), Chennai and Kayankulam.
