Product Name: | SAMSUNG 2243BWX | Category: | Monitor |
The Samsung 2243BWX 22" Digital/Analog Widescreen LCD Monitor offers razor-sharp, widescreen image clarity and a host of features, like Samsung's MagicBright3, which creates an optimal viewing environment based on your picture. With 1680 x 1050 resolution, a remarkable 0.282-millimeter pixel pitch (distance between pixels), and a dynamic contrast ratio of 8000:1 you'll be amazed by the clear, life-like images this wide-spectrum monitor offers.
Thanks to the 170º/160º viewing angle and 4-way adjustable stand, you can place the monitor anywhere and have a perfect view. There's a USB port in the stand, as well, for quick connections to peripherals like your camera, smart phone, or video camera. When you pivot the monitor face, the display automatically shifts to the new orientation, so you can see your portrait or landscape-oriented documents full-screen, without scrolling.
The 2243BWX features an advanced dual interface capable of handling both a standard D-Sub 15-pin and a fast DVI connection for your high-resolution demands. The 5ms response time virtually eliminates the "blur" found in slower monitors. Whether you're rendering video or graphics, enjoying your photos and movies, or gaming, you won't believe your eyes when you see the stunning color and clarity of the 2243BWX. Excellent Brightness and Contrast. Nice glossy bezel finish. Fully adjustable stand. Text seems clear. Cons: Dynamic Contrast is not what it seems. Screen automatically adjusts, but you can notice the adjustments significantly. Had scratches on panel, but they came off with microfiber cloth, also a scratch on the bezel did not come off. One stuck pixel, but after tapping on the screen it worked. Noticeable blacklight bleed on top and bottom. Other Thoughts: Was not as impressed as I thought I would be. My 1905fp's were rather good with digital vibrance turned up a bit. Viewing angles aren't bad, but probably typical for a TN panel. I spent weeks researching LCD panels, and concluded that these were just about the best considering price and quality. This is the same panel as the 2253BW, just has an adjustable stand, which doesn't go up as high as my D3ll's did. 9 out of 10 people found this review helpful. Did you? No dead pixels, and only slight backlight bleed on the top edge of the monitor. Once you adjust everything the bleed can only be seen (barely) on a TOTALLY BLACK background. Fit and finish is very nice, and it seems to run pretty cool. Cons: Capacitive touch controls on the bottom right. They work great, but I can't see them in a dark room! It's kinda funny, actually. Once you get used to the locations, you won't have a problem. Until then, I need to use my penlight. Other Thoughts: I highly recommend this monitor. For you cube dwellers out there, the d311 2208 WFP (on my desk at work) is nowhere near as nice as this monitor. Not even close. Also, I'm not a huge fan of MagicBright (the dynamic contrast control that Samsung uses), but my girl loves it for DVDs. 6 out of 6 people found this review helpful. Did you? Instead, however, my monitor reports its maximum resolution as 1280x1024, so I can't use the monitor as a widescreen monitor since the Windows Nvidia drivers have strict implementation of EDID. So, this junker is going right back to Samsung. Did I mention I recieved this as a warranty replacement for another Samsung monitor that died after a mere 2 years' service? There's also a pretty major design flaw in the monitor itself. The buttons on the unit are touch buttons. Brilliantly, Samsung made the text of the buttons charcoal gray on a black background. Unsurprisingly, unless strong light is available, the buttons are not visible. I wouldn't recommend any Samsung monitor, or any Samsung product for that matter anymore if this is the best they can offer. 0 out of 2 people found this review helpful. Did you? The bezel is as thin as can be without those dinky speakers on the bottom or visible buttons at the bottom. The glossy finish gives it a good touch. The tilting, pivoting and height adjustment helps a lot in getting it at eye level no matter how tall/short you are. USB on the stand is also a nice touch (more on that later). This is my first LCD, coming from a 17'' CRT and I'm totally digging it. There is so much more room on my desk it's crazy. Cons: The touch buttons are nice but if only they had a light blue glow when touching them and having them dim when finished because it's pretty hard to find your way in the menus. USB ports would have been better situated on the side of the screen rather than the stand. I hate cables and I'm not about to use a hub. Other Thoughts: Using it for a bit I had noticed some 4 pixels that were stuck in red. I had tried those screen color changing gifs but nothing seemed to work. I checked the policy on pixels and there has to be 10 DEAD pixels, not stuck. I was kind of bummed but then 2 days later, the stuck pixels were no longer stuck. The screen just might have needed to be used for a bit since who knows how long they've been in storage. So now, I'm totally stoked and my favorite game Bioshock can be played at full Rez with all settings on max working with my 8800 GT card I just got. Thanks Newegg Did you find this review helpful? Cons: The touch sensitive controls are just plane stupid, I much would have rathered manual controls, the symbols are very hard to see, need flashlight to see them. Monitor stand looks and feels cheap, a little shaky Other Thoughts: I was also looking at the Dell 22 inch, should have bought the Dell instead, but I can live with this monitor, its not bad but I've seen better. 0 out of 1 people found this review helpful.
