 Philipkutty's farm, is set on a beautiful small farm island, which was actually reclaimed from the Vembanad Lake. The Farm practises sustainable / organic methods of farming at two metres below the lake level and the products are coconut, toddy, nutmeg, banana, cocoa and pepper cultivation not to forget the jumbo prawn (scampi) and karimeen (pearlspot)from the canals running in the farm land.
Accommodation is in the shape of separate villas, spacious, independent and located on the outer dyke. the villas are decorated with antiques, including some beautifully carved and crafted doors and windows. The villas which are named after beautiful flowers, are well furnished with two large single beds, wardrobe, cupboard, writing table, and chair, settees and chairs in the ‘sit-out'. There is no airconditioning since it is not needed, no telephone and television in the villas. You can have them at the main building if you need them.
You can get home cooked meals and have lavish spread of local specialties. The tariff for the villas includes the food provided for the guests. If informed earlier the food can be prepared even for the non resident guests and parties. The cuisine is mostly syrian Christian type and has a strong Backwaters influence. Puddings, Juices and fresh fruits are served as desserts.
If you are planning to stay for a longer periods you can get discount rates. This is ideal for writers and patients who would like to go in for ayurvedic treatment. They can also arrange for theme lunch for about 60-70 persons at the most.
How to Reach PhilipKutty's Farm
This farm is located about one and a half hours ( about 75 kms.) from Kochi International Airport, 40 minutes drive ( about 20 kms) from Kottayam and 45 minutes ( about 25 kms.) from Alleppey, Philipkutty's farm is well connected by land.
The property can be accessed by a ferry from the Kottayam Boat jetty. If requested earlier, the farm authorities can arrange for transfers on request, at an additional cost.
